have been working for the last four years in and around Canterbury with
various groups of people having different stages of dementia. I
introduce the participants to various sculpture-making processes,
including traditional methods using clay, papier-mâché etc., as well as
the use of digital methods. My works reflect the emotional impact
of these sessions as well as the dynamic nature of the interactions.
The sculptures I create are no more results of a conscious goal to
achieve, they are now an intuitive outcome of what I feel in the
company of my participants and of the embedded remnants in my memory.
The layering of conversations and shared moments becomes a metaphor for
my creations. “Intimate Conversations” is my way to share some personal
moments through creation of sculptural forms.
